“The great thing about the National Truck Club and the Regional Truck Clubs is that people meet and talk about the commercial and fleet business that goes on at the other dealerships. They meet to network with one another, and because they learn from one another as well. Members of Truck Clubs have no one in their respective dealerships who understand their business, other than other commercial and fleet sales persons, so Clubs are a great place to talk to others who have similar challenges at their own dealership.”
The idea of a Ford National Truck Club was born in March, 2006, at the National Truck Equipment Association’s Show in Atlanta, Georgia. Twelve of the 18 regional truck clubs had representatives at that meeting, where they shared ideas about how each club was organized and the programs that were beneficial to their members..
In March of 2007, many of the same group (and some new ones) gathered in Louisville, at the Mid-America Trucking Show, with renewed interest in supporting a national organization.
All agreed that a Ford National Truck Club (FNTC) could bring fleet & commercial sales managers and sales persons together to discuss common challenges relating to this unique part of the vehicle sales business. A National Club would help all interested sales managers and salespersons increase their effectiveness through the exchange of ideas with others, through education and exposure to the processes and procedures of other successful Ford Professionals.
A National Club would also help Regional Truck Clubs share ideas to build more effective clubs, and to assist in establishing new Clubs in areas where a club is viable but not yet established.
These Regional Club Officers also felt that an Internet-based Truck Club would offer additional benefits to all sales managers and salespersons, even those active in regional clubs. It turns out that over 80% of all dealerships are located too far from a Regional Club to be a member. Also, when other factors such as time, weather, and work commitments made attending a Regional Truck Club meeting impossible, an online presence would deliver a virtual meeting opportunity. In some cases there may even be topics that are too sensitive for a Ford Professional to share with other local Ford Professionals, who might be potential competitors. Overall everyone saw advantages to creating a National Online Resource Site.
